Varieties
Always use soybean rust resistant varieties like the ones shown below
Seed bed
Plant soybean in a Fine and Moist Seed bed
Spacing
60 x 5 cm (1 seed per hole) or 50 x 10 cm (2 seeds per hole)
Plant population
330,000 plants per Hectare
Seed rate
60kg per Hectare or 20kg per Acre
Weeding
Keep the crop free of weeds at all the time in the first 2 months
Harversting
Should be done when all plants have dried from the field. Soybean plants are ready for harvesting when they make a rattling sound when shaken. Harvest during
dry conditions to keep high seed/grain quality and reduce threshing cost
Post-harvesting
Thresh and clean produce in dry conditions
Storage
Keep the produce in sacks in a dry cool place, on raised dry wooden pallets
Marketing
Wait until prices are good, sell in bulk (i.e join other producers) to attain large quantities and improve on your bargaining power for better prices
